Our office acquired the MonaLisa Touch™ vaginal laser in May of 2015 after researching the overall very positive results in both the Italian and American literature. In conjunction with our Breast Cancer center, we felt it was the best way to offer patients effective non-hormonal options for the treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause, an often debilitating issue for women with low levels of estrogen in their bodies.

Since purchasing the laser, we have had many wonderful success stories amongst both young women with breast cancer who cannot take estrogen, and postmenopausal women who either prefer not to use estrogen creams or did not get enough relief. To our knowledge, only 2 patients in the past 22 months did not get significant benefit.

Additionally, we also have been able to help women with very difficult to treat external dermatologic issues. We have seen improvement in women with issues such as lichen sclerosus and, in one rare case, almost complete regression of a disease called Zoons vulvitis. This is an issue where certain cells in the tissue are too plentiful and cause skin breakdown and pain so severe that the patient could not wear underwear.

Overall, we are so impressed and thrilled with the results we have seen with our MonaLisa and would highly recommend it to anyone suffering from vaginal symptoms of menopause.
